    Recent breakouts first

    YouTube DiscoveryOutlier Finder

    Results now favor what's working on YouTube right now: most slots go to videos from the last 6 months, and the default sort weights recency, while each channel's all-time classics stay visible and clearly labeled.

    • Improved: Searches fill most result slots from the last 6 months instead of all-time top views, so date filters have real data to work with.
    • Improved: Default sort is now recency-weighted: a breakout happening today outranks an equal one from years ago. The old behavior lives on as "Outlier score (all-time)".
    • Improved: Videos over a year old carry a "Classic" tag, proven ideas from an earlier era of the algorithm.
    • Fixed: The "Uploaded" window is now enforced on live results too, so a 6-month search can't show years-old videos.

    True outliers, even when titles don't match

    Search results now include each channel's biggest outliers even when their titles share no words with your search, and the index refreshes view counts twice a day.

    • New: Channel expansion: results pull in the top outliers from every channel your search surfaces, scored against that channel's own average.
    • Improved: View counts for recent indexed videos refresh twice daily, so outlier scores reflect live numbers.
    • Improved: Deleted and private videos are pruned from the index automatically.
    • Improved: The crawler now indexes almost twice as many channels per run.

    A batch of quality-of-life fixes from real creator testing: watch and channel links on every result, an English-only filter, and a tidier results page.

    • New: English titles only filter hides results written in non-Latin scripts.
    • Improved: Click any result's title or thumbnail to watch it on YouTube; channel names link to the channel.
    • Improved: Cards show a channel's typical views per video once true scores are measured, so velocity has context.
    • Improved: Related searches are collapsed by default, so a stray click can't replace your results.
    • Fixed: Help guide links open in a new tab instead of navigating away from the app.
